Speaker 2:

Welcome back to another episode of teachers in transition, the podcast and the YouTube channel. My name is kitty boy, not I am the owner of boy, not coaching. And the founder of teachers in transition. I am a trained and experienced heart centered career transition and job search coach who specializes in working with burnout teachers who are ready for a career change, but don't know how or where to begin. I'm also a certified stress management coach. So on this podcast in YouTube channel, I taught ultimately about career transition topics and stress management topics. This week, the topic of the week is stress and stress management. But I wanna take a look at that with a little bit of a twist that would also go play over into the realm of career transition. So what I'm going to talk about today is related to both, uh, stress and work. And that topic is the importance of passion and purpose in your life. And in your work, I have been doing a series for the last few weeks. And if you happen to already be on my newsletter list, my email list, you are receiving those messages about passion, about purpose, how to find them, how to identify them. And it occurred to me that maybe it would be appropriate to offer a little bit about that topic, passion and purpose, as it relates to both stress management strategies in your life and work transition, or your managing in your current work. So few people have found their true passion and purpose in life. It feels like for many people just it's, it's a huge mystery. What, what is my per in life? Sometimes it feels like you're looking for it. And it's, it's just out of reach. You can't get in touch with it when you do everything changes. And I am lucky enough. And I was writing about this for this week's newsletter. I'm lucky enough to had found my true purpose, not once, but twice in my life. I was originally an elementary school librarian. And when I first got out of college and, and started looking for a work, I had thought I wanted to be an, a high school English teacher. And so taking a job as an elementary librarian felt like a second choice, but it was the job I was offered and I needed a job. So I took it. And in the next couple of years, what I discovered was that I was perfect temperamentally dispositionally in every way. Perfect for being a librarian. There were days in my early career that I actually would think, you know, I would do this job for free. I I'm lucky they're paying me because I would actually do this job happily for free. That's when you know, you have found your purpose and that you are working with a sense of passion. Now, I haven't always felt like I, I would be willing to do that work for free, but I did always, without exception, feel like I had the best job in the building. I don't know if that's still true.<laugh> for librarians given everything that's going on out there in the world right now. But I retired before any of that craziness about wanting to ban books here and there before that came about. So I had the best job in the building. And then when I, I retired in 2012, I was back to find, excuse me, I have something in my throat. I was back to finding a new purpose, a new, a sense of purpose and passion all over again at the age of 60. And lucky me, I found it the way this business has evolved. The work that I do now with clients from all over the country, occasionally from, from all over the world, it doesn't get any better than when you get an, an email thanking me for helping someone find the work that they longed to find, to make the transition out of the classroom. I just heard not too long ago for am a client that I worked with two years ago. And she's still happy. Still, still plugging away. I watch another one on Facebook and she's happy as alar. You can see it on her face. She is Gring from ear to ear. They are living their best lives because they took a chance of finding something different. And that's what I want for you. You wouldn't be listening to this podcast or watching this YouTube channel. If you weren't looking for something, an answer to a question about what is it that you can do next, or how to better manage your stress. Those I think are the main two that anybody would be interested in listening or watching these messages. So today I wanna offer that to find your purpose and passion is where you begin both in your job search and in better managing your stress. Because if you are working in a job that feels fulfilling, you are naturally going to feel less stress, less anxiety. You are naturally going to feel that you are in alignment with your work and feeling in alignment with your work brings about a happy career life. And that's what I want for you. Having a passion and purpose also impacts your health in a positive way. But when you feel like you're out of touch with passion or purpose, it can lead to all kinds of unhappiness uncertainties feeling like you're missing out on something, feeling like you're going through the motions of your life without really feeling fulfilled. And that's no way to live. And unfortunately, I think too many people are settling for that settling for going through the motions because you know, a job that they can find, whether it's in alignment with their purpose and passion or not. If it pays the bills, you know, you gotta keep a roof over your head. You've gotta keep groceries on the table. You've gotta keep gas in the car. And Lord knows everything has gotten more expensive recently. So you have to do what you have to do to make living. But I want for my clients to be able to make more than just a living and to make a life for themselves that feels rich. That feels like they're headed in the right direction. That allows them to set goals that they can achieve, that they can be proud of. And once you have found your passion, your purpose, everything else seems to fall into place your relationships improve. Your health certainly improves because you're not experiencing the tension of being unhappy at work all the time.<affirmative> and everything improves and, and feels better. So that's what I want for you. And if you're interested in checking out the, um, series that I've been doing on passion purpose, let me know so that I can add you to my email list. And then you'll start receiving the newsletters that I do every Tuesday morning. They go out without fail every Tuesday early in the morning, so that you have, or before you go to work on Tuesday, or anytime out during the rest of the week to read a newsletter, that's meant to help, to motivate, to inspire, to make you think, to make you ponder, uh, and also to occasionally promote a program or an activity. For example, I am also doing a webinar workshop next Thursday night, May 5th at 7:00 PM, Eastern on the topic of how to find your passion and purpose. And I'm going to be offering seven specific ways that you can identify at last, your passion and your purpose. I hope that if you're interested, if this topic is resonating for you, if you feel like you are struggling to find your and purpose, or maybe, you know, your passion, but you haven't found your purpose or vice versa, fi sign up and go to the link. That's in the show notes to register for the free webinar workshop that I'll be offering next Thursday, April, um, and not April, May 5th, 20 at 7:00 PM, Eastern adjusts for time differences supporting them. So that's it for this week. I hope I hope that if you haven't found your particular passion and purpose, yet that you will let me help a little bit by offering some ideas around that topic. And if not, have a great week, stay safe, say stay well, but do email me if you have any que do review this podcast and leave a comment so that other people can find it. If you have found any of the, this podcast or any of the ones before helpful, that's it for today, have a wonderful week, see you next week.
