Speaker 2:

Welcome back to another episode of teachers in transition, the podcast and the YouTube channel. My name is kitty boy. I'm a heart centered career transition and job search coach. I specialize in working out with burnt out teachers who are ready to make a career change, but don't know how or where to begin. If you've listened to this podcast in the past, you know that I alternate topics each week talking one week about stress management strategies because I'm a certified stress management coach and on alternating weeks career transition, because I'm also a trained and experienced career transition and job search coach. As I said, I specialize in working with teachers this week. I wanna talk about career transition strategies. And one of the things that I want to offer is that whenever you are looking to make a change from one career to another, it's important that you remember the importance of story in your career and keeping your story straight. And what do I mean by that? If you are leaving teaching for a new career, you need to be very, very clear about why it is that you're leaving. And you also need to have a clear story about what your career meant to you and the impact you made on your students while you were with them and why you want to be making this change. You can't be changing your story about the reason why you're changing your career. If you talk with a recruiter or a screening hiring manager until one story, and then tell a different story in the interview, when they start to compare stories, they may be confused. So keep your story straight and be sure that you have a story to tell people, love stories. Ever. All of us have a story, and we love to tell our story, but we have to be careful about telling too much oversharing, uh, giving the wrong impression by saying the wrong thing. When telling your story and giving people the impression that you can't keep your story straight. So do keep your story straight. When you're looking for a new job, when you're looking to transition out of the classroom and into a new career, be very, very clear about why you're leaving, what your experiences entailed, how you learned from them, how you can bring those experiences into this new position that you are looking to fill and how you can be an asset to the company that is looking to bring you on board. That's what they wanna hear, how you can be an asset to them. What can you do for them? So keep your story all about that. All about the benefit that you bring to the company and how you can be an asset to their team. That's it for this week. If you have any questions, email me at kitty boy, not gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you. If you would please review this podcast or YouTube channel, subscribe to the channel, uh, sign up for reminders about the podcast in the proper section.
